There is much to do and see in and around the New Paltz area and the Hudson Valley. Plan an autumn getaway today and hike through picturesque mountains. It's apple season and we have a wonderful orchard right here on Quiet Mountain--so come on up and pick some wonderfully delicious apples. Visit one of our local parks and enjoy the beautiful autumn colors. Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mountain, Sam's Point, and the Ice Caves are a short drive away (within 20-30 minutes). Or just take a leisure stroll on our lovely grounds. Guided Nature Walks (Hiking, Backpacking)

Explore one of the last wild areas of the Catskill Mt. region on an invigorating nature walk with Alfonse and Milo, to secluded Ver Nooy Kill creek. We'll provide a light lunch for you down by the creek, which may even include some wild food from the forest. Join Alfonse in identifying wild medicinal and edible plants on the way to the creek. The forest trails behind Quiet Mountain Sanctuary and down to the Ver Noy Kill often yield wild edible fruits such as blackberries, blueberries, wintergreen berries, sorrels, mushrooms, chicories and much more..
